Tamron Hall is out at the Today Show.
She became the first black woman to co-anchor the morning program in 2014, and had been anchoring the nine o’clock hour with Al Roker.
Deadline reports that Hall learned last week that she was being removed from the nine o’clock hour in favor of new NBC hire Megyn Kelly. NBC hoped that she would not mind, seeing as Hall would get to keep her show on the network’s cable channel, MSNBC. Hall apparently was not prepared to accept the deal NBC put on the table, and is leaving not just Today, but her MSNBC show as well.
NBC said in a statement today that they were, “disappointed that she has chosen to leave, but we wish her all the best.”
Hall, for her part, responded saying, “The last ten years have been beyond anything I could have imagined, and I’m grateful. I’m also excited about the next chapter.”
We’re excited for that next chapter too, Tamron.
