Serena Williams faced off against fellow tennis champ Roger Federer and had a great time even though she lost.

Williams and partner Frances Tiafoe represented the United States as they competed against Swiss players Federer and Belinda Bencic on Tuesday at the Hopman’s Cup doubles match. According to Buzzfeed, Federer and Williams have 43 wins between them, with Williams having earned 23 trophies.

Unfortunately, Williams and Tiafoe lost against Switzerland 2-1.

Despite her defeat, Olympia’s mommy was all smiles following the match and took a few selfies with Frederer.

"GOAT vs. GOAT," Williams wrote on Instagram. "The GOAT won."

Frederer admitted playing against Williams was a more than a bit nerve-wracking.

"I was nervous returning [Williams' serve] because it's a wonderful serve and you just can't read it," Federer said. "It was great fun and she is a great champion. You can see how focused she is and that's what I love about her."

The feeling is mutual, reports The New York Times.

“I mean, the guy is great, he’s the greatest of all time, to be honest,” Williams said.  “He has a killer serve. Literally, you can’t read it, and there’s a reason why he’s the greatest, because you can’t be that great and not have an awesome weapon like that serve.”

The Compton native considers the match a career highlight since it is so rare for the genders to collide on the court.

“I was so excited. Literally, it was the match of my career. I don’t know, just playing someone so great, and someone that you admire so much — and a match that actually means something. It’s not often that that happens,” Williams said.

“Men and women’s tennis just don’t compete against each other,” she added. “So it’s just really great and special to go against the greatest of all time.”
