It’s looking like The Bachelor contestants may have to shell out a lot of cash to be on the show.
That’s because a former contestant has alleged that the cast (outside of the star) has to cover their physical appearance on the show. Daria Rose, a first week eliminated contestant from the current 23rd season (aka Clayton Echard’s season) took to her TikTok and explained that the contestants pay for their own hair, makeup and wardrobe.
“As you may know, contestants on The Bachelor have to pay for their own dresses, hair and makeup — so let’s see how much I spent,” said Rose.
The first dress she presented on the social media app was the dress she wore during her entrance. Rose informed viewers she purchased it from Lord & Taylor for $198. She also showcased an “Elle Woods inspired” pink pantsuit that was $285, a gorgeous green gown that she purchased for $420 as well as a light pink dress that cost Rose $312. Rose also showcased a Nookie brand dress for $319.
“Next, we have this fire red dress that I ended up wearing not on The Bachelor,” Rose continued. “[It’s] from Revolve, Nookie brand, $219.”

“[It was] a total of $2,238,” Rose said of all the purchases. “Very expensive. So, if anybody needs to borrow a dress, let me know.”
Due to the production’s guidelines, many women pack at minimum 14 dresses with several alternate dresses in case their initial dresses get rejected.
Rose added that “some of the girls end up sharing/swapping” their clothes by the season’s end.
Those that viewed Rose’s TikTok were still in shock. In a response to the commenters, Rose shared she really wanted to buy from Black designers. “Haha. I honestly wanted to buy from all Black designers, but the stuff wouldn’t ship in time.”
