CJK Publishing recently made the first audiobook in the Demarcus Jones series – Demarcus Jones and the Solar Calendar – free for the public to download in anticipation of the release of the fourth book. According to Black News, the free audiobook is the first offer of many as the publishing company begins their countdown to the release of Demarcus Jones and the Solar Calendar IV on Oct. 26.

The book series follows the main character, Demarcus Jones, as he watches events that have occurred around the world over time by using an ancient solar calendar. The book series is layered with stories of ancient African civilization and diaspora contributions – helping youth to understand the troubles of the African diaspora in today's social and political climate.

The books include facts about various topics including Nat Turner, Black Wall Street, the government's creation of black ghettos, Sara Baartman, exploitation of black resources, Queen Nzingha, among others. Author Quineka Ragsdale had a natural interest in history and has been writing since she was a small child. Ragsdale has devoted a lot of time to teaching original history to young children, and after noticing the lack of knowledge young black kids had about their own history, she took the opportunity to create a tool to make a difference.

“It’s important for children to learn our history unapologetically. We’ve done some truly amazing things that even in 2017 are still being ignored,” Ragsdale said.

The free audiobook download is only available for a limited time at www.demarcusjones.com.
