"Old Town Road" has dominated the airwaves and the internet for more than a month now. It has risen to the top spot on the Billboard Hot 100 charts and catapulted Lil Nas X in the national spotlight.

The remix with country music legend Billy Ray Cyrus has made the song even more popular. Now, a teacher in Alabama came up with the great idea to make a school-appropriate version that her kids can recite all the way home.

Jasmine Merlette, a teacher at Sun Valley Elementary School in Birmingham, posted a video on Twitter and Instagram of her students singing along to the hit with their own lyrics.

"I got the answers in the back, scratch work is attached, pencils in my bag, and I’m solvin’ mighty fast," the students sang in the video.

"School is my task, I can do this math, really quick and fast, education is that swag."

Merlette posted the video last week and it quickly went viral. It even caught the attention of both Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus.

“It’s a call to action to empower not just yourself but those around you as well, especially our youth because they need us,” Merlette told the Huffington Post in an email.

“The goal of our song was to encourage my kids to remain confident and motivated while taking the state exams. Music is a fun and easy way to remind them that they possess the tools for success.”

Merlette's students were absolutely ecstatic when they found out the two musicians saw the video and approved of it.

“A few of them cried because they were overwhelmed with excitement,” she said on Sunday.

“One of my students said, ‘Ms. Merlette, (Lil Nas X) saw our classroom! He saw our classroom!’ And to me, that validation is the most important part of this whole experience. The world got a glimpse of what our classroom is like, seeing how much happiness can be filled in schools.”
