Tinashe is dipping her toe into the cannabis industry as she is set to release her new hybrid brand.

Since parting ways with RCA Records in 2019, the Kentucky native has taken charge of her career. She’s been doing things on her terms like collaborating with people of her choice and releasing music that is authentic to her. As Blavity reported, Tinashe earned her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with her viral hit, “Nasty.”

While the 31-year-old entertainer is on a roll, she recently announced that she’s one of the newest owners of a cannabis strain.

“I feel most spiritual when I connect with nature and listen to music. It’s no coincidence, both are magical, profound wellness tools,” Tinashe said about her marijuana line per Essence. “Green T celebrates emotional, creative, and overall well-being.”

In partnership with RYTHM, an American cannabis brand, Tinasahe created Green T, a hybrid strain, to launch her collection. Pennsylvanians will be the first people to have the opportunity to purchase the product beginning June, 14.

According to Essence’s report, the strain aims to encourage innovative thoughts and work ethic. Furthermore, she ensured that her brand was “rich” and enjoyable to the tastebuds.

A mere 4.3% of cannabis business owners are Black-owned and -operated, according to Marijuana Business Daily in 2017.

“The biggest need and the biggest disparity and the biggest outrage has been the licensing process and the ability for small businesses to first get into the market, and then to survive after dealing with large taxes, huge licensing fees or all these other things that we fear are shaping up in opposition of minority entrepreneurship,” Jesce Horton, who serves as co-founder and board chairman of the Minority Cannabis Business Association, said in an interview with Marijuana Business Daily.

With more celebrities like Tinashe taking ownership in the booming industry, they inspire more minority and female entrepreneurs to do the same.
