Tinashe is gearing up to release her next album. The “Nasty” singer went to Instagram on June 21 to announce her upcoming Quantum Baby album — the second installment of a trilogy project that includes 2023’s BB/ANG3L. Quantum Baby will drop on Aug. 16.

Tinashe’s announcement falls on the same day as the release of her new music video for “Getting No Sleep,” per Variety.
Tinashe has been enjoying immense success since releasing her “Nasty” single back in April. The 30-year-old star made her first solo entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since 2014’s “2 On,” which peaked at No. 24 on the chart. “Nasty” has also skyrocketed to the top of the Spotify Global Viral 50 chart. It also remains No. 1 on the Apple iTunes R&B and Soul Songs chart.
Speaking about Quantum Baby, Tinashe said the project is about the public getting to know her “on a deeper level.”
“It’s about exploring who I am as a person and who I am as an artist,” Tinashe told Variety. “I’ve never been one to be put into a box, so the name Quantum Baby encompasses all the different parts that make up who I am as a creative.”
The Kentucky native echoed a similar sentiment when she spoke with Blavity in September 2023 after releasing BB/ANG3L.
“This chapter of my life is bold,” she told Blavity. “Like bold in my decision-making, bold in my lack of being willing to compromise my boundaries. I’m not willing to make the same type of compromises that I would have in the past about my art, my personal life, about who I am as a person…about the things I want to do and don’t want to do. I feel very self-assured and very bold.”
Tinashe, who is an independent artist, also emphasized the significance of maintaining control over her music.
“As women, we’re constantly fighting to maintain our power, especially when it comes to business and how we’re both seen and how we present ourselves,” she said. “I think it’s really important to be able to be in charge of your own art and to be in charge of your own business. I think being independent, while it’s definitely not the easiest route to take, gives you a lot of ways to have more creative freedom and it’s empowering when you’re able to make it happen.”
Tinashe is also determined to branch out into different areas of entertainment.
“I always love to challenge myself so something unexpected would be great. I don’t want to just play a singer or someone similar to myself,” she told Blavity. “I’d like to play something that feels outside of my comfort zone. Maybe like an adventure mystery or something where I can get real cerebral or something, maybe there’s even a fight scene.”
