Ever since Tituss Burgess (best known for his role in Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt) stepped into the mainstream, he's made the world a better, more joyful place. In addition to his breakout role in the hit Netflix series, he's appeared on 30 Rock and starred in four Broadway shows.
Aside from his remarkable talent, Burgess uses his elevated voice and platform to uplift the LGBTQ community. As such, GLAAD is officially recognizing his efforts.
According to Out Magazine, Burgess will be honored with the Local Hero Award at the 2017 GLAAD Gala Atlanta, due the significant impact he's had on the queer community.
"Tituss Burgess has long used his substantial and powerful voice to shed light on important causes," said GLAAD President and CEO, Sarah Kate Ellis. "His massive talent and bold personality make him an unforgettable advocate for LGBTQ acceptance and a clear choice for the Local Hero Award."
Other notable appearances at the 2017 GLAAD Gala Atlanta will include Amiyah Scott as well as Cynthia Bailey, Shereé Whitfield and Porsha Williams from The Real Housewives of Atlanta.
