Britne Oldford ("American Horror Story") plays the female lead in Syfy’s upcoming 13-episode adaptation of Whitley Strieber’s best-selling novel "Alien Hunter," which tells the story of a brilliant police detective’s obsessive investigation into the mysterious disappearance of his wife, which he eventually concludes wasn’t at all voluntary, even though it initially appears that way. Somebody is taking people and making it look like they walked out on their own. As the detective gets closer to the truth, his work comes to the attention of Special Agent Diana Glass, a member of the most secret police unit on the planet, tasked with seeking out the most brilliant and lethal criminals, but from another world. Special Agent Glass leads the detective into a hidden fantastical world of extraordinary challenge and danger, as they take on the most difficult police assignment ever known to man.
To be tiled simply "Hunters," the Syfy series adaptation will star Nathan Phillips as the brilliant police detective in search of his missing wife, and Britne Oldford as Special Agent Diana Glass.
Julian McMahon also co-stars.
The Syfy adaptation won’t be a literal translation of the book, but it looks like the main premise and 2 lead characters will remain the similar, even if their identities are changed.
It’s executive produced by Gale Anne Hurd (“The Walking Dead,” and the "Terminator" movies) and Natalie Chaidez (“12 Monkeys,” “Heroes”), so it appears to be in good hands. Even better is that Ernest Dickerson directed the pilot episode.
The series premieres in April 2016.
