Rapper Trina’s mother, Vernessa “Nessa” Taylor, has died at the age of 62 following a cancer battle.

A representative for the Love & Hip-Hop star confirmed to Entertainment Tonight that Taylor died on Monday.

A representative for the Miami-based rapper told ET in a statement that “it truly gives the family some peace and comfort knowing that 'Nessa’ lived such a fulfilling life filled with love and abundance.”

“On behalf of Trina and her family, we ask that you keep them in your prayers and give them their privacy as they mourn the loss of her mother, grandmother, aunt and role model to many…we truly appreciate your ongoing support and continued love,” the statement continued.

On Wednesday, fellow rapper Nicki Minaj shared her condolences via social media while calling on her fans to uplift Trina during this “very difficult time.”

In June, Trina shared a photo of her mother referring to her as "my entire world .. my strength, my weakness, my reason for never giving up, my peace, my joy, my everything.”

The 44-year-old rapper paid homage to her mother in the song "Mama" with Grammy-nominated singer Kelly Price ahead of Mother’s Day in 2018. On the track, featured in her new album The One, Trina said her mother is the “reason I’m here today” and said “I owe you my life.”

Last year, Trina opened up to the Grammys about her mother’s illness and the motivation behind the emotional tribute.

"My mom was kind of sick when I was in the studio making this song and I was in a really down place… I was just in there recording one night finishing my album and I called her on the phone, she wasn't feeling so good, and so that inspired the song,” Trina said.

"You only get one mom in the entire world. You can never, ever get another one. … No matter what happens, one only comes your way. That's a blessing.”
