First, Agent May’s ex-husband will join the series once more in its third season! Blair Underwood will return for multiple episodes in the third season of "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Season 3 premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 9 PM ET on ABC. In the aftermath of S.H.I.E.L.D.’s battle with Jiaying and the Inhumans, Director Coulson will search the world for more powered people and will face threats unlike the world has ever seen. However, the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will soon find out they’re not the only ones tracking down these new Inhumans.
Second, TBS has set the cast for its ensemble alien abduction comedy pilot "The Group" from The Office creator Greg Daniels. Former "Daily Show" correspondent and writer Wyatt Cenac will play a Wyatt Jones, described as a serious journalist in the town of Beacon who is pulled into covering the alien abductions that have been occurring.
Third, Edi Gathegi has joined the cast of "The Blacklist" on NBC to play a character named Mr. Solomon who, according to exec producer John Eisendrath, "is going to be entering the series’ landscape and not in a friendly in any way to Liz or Red or the people they care about. In fact, Mr. Solomon puts someone close to Red in a very vulnerable position that could compromise everyone’s safety." "The Blacklist" returns Thursday, Sept. 24 at 9/8c on NBC.
Fourth, Ato Essandoh has been cast to play a character named as Lester Grimes, in HBO’s "Untitled Rock ‘n’ Roll Project" from Martin Scorsese and Mick Jagger. Set in 1970s New York, the series will explore the drug- and sex-fueled music business as punk and disco were breaking out, all through the eyes of a record executive trying to resurrect his label and find the next new sound. Bobby Cannavale stars as Richie Finestra, the founder and president of a top-tier record label. Essandoh’s character is a former singer and ex-colleague of Richie Finestra. Other cast members include Olivia Wilde as Devon Finestra, Richie’s wife, a former actress/model who lived a Bohemian life in 1960s New York and Ray Romano as Zak Yankovich, one of Richie’s partners, the tough and savvy Head of Promotions of American Century with decades of experience dating back to the dark, mob-infested days of the recording business.
Fifth, Season 2 of HBO’s "The Leftovers" adds Regina King, Kevin Carroll, Jasmin Savoy Brown and Jovan Adepo to its cast. The new season will tell the tale of two families this time: The Garveys will be joined by a new clan: the Murphys, a family of four who seems to have been spared from the event that shook the rest of the world. The series follows a global cataclysm, "The Sudden Departure," when 140 million people disappeared without a trace. Three years later, residents of Mapleton, N.Y., try to maintain equilibrium when the notion of "normal" no longer applies. Intense grief has divided families and turned faith to cynicism, paranoia and madness, leading some of the traumatized to join the Guilty Remnant, a cultlike group. Kevin Garvey, a beleaguered police chief, must keep peace between townspeople and the cult, a task made tougher with concern about his kids. Season 2 finds many searching for a fresh start. Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) has retired from his post as chief of police of Mapleton and is moving his new family to Texas. With him is Nora Durst (Carrie Coon), who’s discovered new purpose in caring for the baby she found on Kevin’s doorstep and welcomes leaving behind Mapleton and the incredible tragedy she suffered there. Equally eager to leave the town she grew up in and the friends she made there is Kevin’s daughter, Jill (Margaret Qualley). Upon their arrival in Jarden, Texas, the newly formed Garvey family meet their neighbors, the Murphys: John (Kevin Carroll) and Erika (Regina King) and their teenage twins, Evie (Jasmin Savoy Brown) and Michael (Jovan Adepo).
Sixth, UP presents its first original scripted drama series "Ties That Bind," a hybrid police procedural and family drama, starring Kelli Williams, Jonathan Scarfe and Dion Johnstone. Created by Executive Producer/Writer Sheryl J. Anderson, this 10-episode, hour-long series is set to premiere exclusively on UP on Wednesday, August 12 at 9 p.m. EDT. "Ties that Bind" revolves around Allison McLean (Kelli Williams), a tough and experienced police detective in suburban Seattle. Like most working women, her hands are already full, balancing a demanding and dangerous job and a family — husband Matt (Jonathan Scarfe), and teenagers. But when she and her partner, Devin (Dion Johnstone), must arrest her brother, Tim (Luke Perry), for aggravated assault, her world drastically changes as Tim is convicted and sent to prison leaving his two teenagers, teetering on the brink of foster care. Allison now feels compelled to do the right thing as a sister and aunt; she brings Tim’s two very unhappy teens into her home.
