UPDATE: Courtesy of the TV Guide, we now know what role Angela Bassett will play in "Hotel" – a woman named Ramona Royale, a "fabulous actress" who visits the hotel in question often. Bassett further describes her as "sexy", adding that she "has a very strong and lasting relationship with Lady Gaga’s character," speaking to the romance her character and Gaga’s will have on the series when it returns in the fall, as reported earlier today, below.

Some TV news not previously reported on this blog…
First, revealed today at FX’s Television Critics Assn. (TCA) press tour (which is happening as I type this), star Lady Gaga will "romance" Angela Bassett’s character in "American Horror Story: Hotel" as Gaga’s character’s alter ego is bisexual. This is according to TV Line with the scoop. Gaga’s character will actually romance a number of other characters on the show, including Matt Bomer and Cheyenne Jackson, exec producer Ryan Murphy revealed, adding that the upcoming 5th season of the hit anthology series, like the first 2 seasons, "taps into the ‘trapped’ horror trope, although not all the action will be Hotel-based."
Second, Erika Alexander has joined the cast of Amazon’s crime drama series "Bosch," to play Deputy Chief Irving’s (Lance Reddick) wife, a college professor, who is concerned about furthering her husband’s career and keeping her police officer son safe. "Bosch," based on Michael Connelly‘s novels, follows the trials of a veteran LAPD homicide detective played by Titus Welliver. Jaimie Hector co-stars, playing his partner.
Third, Malcolm Mays has been cast as a series regular in FX’s John Singleton 1980s crack cocaine epidemic drama pilot "Snowfall," to play a character named Leon Simmons. He joins the previously cast Damson Idris, Billy Magnussen and Sergio Peris-Mencheta.
And finally, the upcoming second season of John Ridley’s "American Crime" has added André Benjamin and Trevor Jackson to its cast, joining Regina King. Benjamin will play an architect named Michael Lacroix, who, along with his wife, Terri (Regina King), are prominent members of their community. A true power couple, they have both the financial means, as well as the acumen needed to fiercely defend their son when he becomes entangled in a scandal at an elite private school. Trevor Jackson will play their son, Aaron Lacroix.
That’s it for now!
