A quick ratings round-up…
First, the premiere episode of FX’s critically-acclaimed miniseries American Horror Story: Coven, which aired last night, was the most-watched telecast ever of the American Horror Story franchise, recording 5.54 million total viewers, ranking #1 for the night in Adults 18-34 against all broadcast competition in primetime (8-11PM), and it ranked #2 in Adults 18-49 behind Modern Family.
I can only wonder how much of that had to do with awareness of the addition of Angela Bassett (and Gabourey Sidibe) to the cast, and how many new black viewers (who didn’t watch the series before this season – like me) the series drew, if only because of the addition of those 2 actresses.
I’ll probably never know…
But a strong debut nonetheless! If you haven’t yet, share your reactions to it in our open thread, posted this morning, HERE.
Second, the series premiere of Oxygen’s new reality series, Preachers of L.A., delivered 1.1 million total viewers, making it the network’s strongest Wednesday season premiere ever according to Nielsen.
Last night’s episode delivered Oxygen’s second highest rated series premiere in network history among Adults 25-54.
Preachers of L.A. was the #2 most social cable reality program and #3 most social reality program in primetime with #PreachersofLA trending in the USA on Twitter during the premiere.
All these numbers are despite the fact that the first episode was made available on VOD and Oxygen.com a week early, drawing over 180,000 full episode streams.
It looks like Oxygen has a hit!
Third and final, Sleepy Hollow, which already set records at FOX with its premiere a month ago, has seen viewership for that same premiere hit 25 million, when DVR, VOD and streaming on FOX (since the debut) are added. This according to a press release today from the network.
With the Live+7 Nielsen data [which accounts for everyone who hit Play on a recording within a week] that came in earlier this week, plus the available VOD and Fox.com/Hulu streaming numbers, the SLEEPY HOLLOW premiere total audience has now surpassed 25 million viewers/views!
Sleepy Hollow has already been renewed for a second season, in case you missed that bit of news last week.
