Conservative pundit and Fox News contributor Tomi Lahren continues to criticize former San Francisco 49ers QB Colin Kaepernick for protesting against racial injustices and police brutality in America.
In her most recent attack, the rising star of the right decided to tweet a Photoshopped image depicting Kaepernick kneeling as Allied troops stormed Normandy during the D-Day invasion from World War II with a caption making light of his "Citizen of the Year" honorific.
Food for thought. pic.twitter.com/2ita0blH0O

The photo was supposed to support the conservative talking point claiming that Kap's protests – and those who support it – are disrespecting the military and veterans for protesting during the national anthem. Her attempt to convey that blew up in her face. Twitter was quick to recount Kap's charitable donations, his message and his dedication to fighting against racism in the United States.
While both you and Kaepernick were jobless…he donated a million dollars to various charities in the US.
You sold horrible shit on Instagram.

Other users pointed out how ridiculous the photo was by making a Star Wars: Rogue One reference.
I didn’t know Colin fought on Scarif with Jyn nem

But one user took the prize for dismantling the narrative altogether and giving the photo new meaning. User Tom B brilliantly illustrated how black soldiers fought for the U.S. despite being segregated at home and across seas while fighting for the rights of people who despised them.
Oh I don't know. It's made me think about how even during the war, black men were discriminated and segregated by race, and so he would never have fought bravely and equally alongside white soldiers. I'm not sure that was her intention.

Kaepernick has become a diligent champion for civil rights all the while being blackballed by the NFL. His dedication to giving a $1 million to various charities and organizations across the country has garnered him the coveted “Citizen of the Year” title from GQ magazine.
