The decision to replace the departed gremlin known as Cee-Lo Green with Usher, and Christina Aguilera with Shakria on NBC’s The Voice, seems to have been a smart move for the show.

The season premiere of the show pulled in 13.4 million viewers, which is an increase of 12% from last year’s season premiere.

However, things are getting worse for American Idol. You recall that last month I reported that the show had an all time ratings and viewership low since the show’s premiere, HERE.

Well it turns out that I spoke too soon.

Last week, the show was watched by 11.3 million viewers, which is the lowest number of viewers ever. Even lower than the 13.1 million which was the previous all time low a month ago.

To date AI’s viewership has dropped a whopping 33.8% since this season’s opener. I guess having Nicki Minaj as a judge was a good idea for them after all wasn’t it?
