Viola Davis is a busy woman! She stars as Annalise Keating in How to Get Away with Murder, and she’ll co-star with Denzel Washington in the upcoming Fences adaption – just to name a few of her projects. Now, Davis is set to star in Widows, a heist-thriller film based on the 1980s TV series of the same name. The TV series revolved around spouses who decide to finish the job after their criminal husbands are killed in a robbery.

A few Hollywood heavy-hitters are working behind the camera. Steve McQueen takes a leap into this different genre after directing such blockbuster hits as 12 Years a Slave and Shame. The script is co-written by Gillian Flynn, author of the bestselling book turned film, Gone Girl. Davis’ co-stars have yet to be named.

We’re excited to see Viola throw her signature compelling dramatic performance into this film. Perhaps we’ll get to relive a bit of our Set It Off nostalgia and see a group of black women crime bosses.

More announcements about the cast and release date are soon to come.

How can you not be excited!?
