With the NFL basically telling players to shut up and play ball through its new policy on the #TakeAKnee protest, anger toward the organization's hypocrisy has heightened. The movement first gained attention when Colin Kaepernick began a silent protest against police brutality by kneeling during the national anthem. The former San Francisco 49ers quarterback has since been seemingly blackballed by the NFL.

D.C. Rapper Wale is now paying homage to the quarterback on his latest EP Self Promotion with the track "Salary Kaep." Run that back ???? pic.twitter.com/p2HRTkNXIS

While the clip was teased after the announcement of the NFL's new policy, the song was released on YouTube May 8.

“I mean, people are dying in vain because this country isn’t holding up their end of the bargain, as far as, you know, giving freedom and justice and liberty to everybody," Kaepernick can be heard saying at the beginning of the song. "It’s something that’s not happening, and I’ve seen videos, I’ve seen certain circumstances where men and women who have been in the military have come back and been treated unjustly by the country they fought for and have been murdered by the country they fought for – on our land.”

"Whole ‘nother level, white boy tryna kill me. Whole lotta melanin, black don’t crack. And I’m in my bag, am I bad?" Wale raps. "I’m unapologetic, be forever pro-black. No Nazi gonna stop this bag. Infrared beam on Confederate flag."

The video is a compilation of clips from Kaepernick's football career. Despite his past work as a quarterback, he remains unsigned. His refusal to back down from exercising his rights has led him down the path of activism with countless people standing behind him.
