Vince Gilligan, creator of AMC’s Breaking Bad, wants to do a Saul Goodman spin-off once the original series wraps for good.  If that happens, it would be a plus if funnyman Lavell Crawford could reprise his role as bodyguard Huell.

In the series, Bob Odenkirk superbly plays the role of shady (but resourceful), attorney Saul Goodman.  After Goodman is threatened with physical violence in Season 4, Crawford’s character, Huell, is brought on board as the hired muscle. 

I know there are some readers who aren’t all-the-way caught up on the 5 1/2 seasons of Breaking Bad that have already aired, so I won’t reveal too much about the plot-lines in which Crawford’s character has been involved.

But for those of us who eagerly await the series’ August 11 premiere of Season 5.2, we already know that Crawford’s subtle portrayal of Huell has provided some comic relief, as well as some clarity regarding one of the show’s biggest head-scratchers (**Spoiler Alert** actor/director Bryan Cranston reveals the role Huell played in a crucial Season 4 plot-line).

Crawford doesn’t have an abundance of lines to recite in the few scenes in which he appears through seasons 4 & 5.  But I truly enjoy the normally gregarious and boisterous comedian’s turn as the usually silent straight man to Odenkirk’s Goodman. 

I don’t know what Gilligan has in store for his proposed Goodman spin-off, but it would serve the show well to have Crawford on board.  That is, of course, assuming Huell lives to see the end of Breaking Bad’s fifth and final season.
