Venus Williams is officially a married woman!
The tennis superstar, 45, announced Tuesday on social media that she and actor and model Andrea Preti, 37, tied the knot over the weekend in Palm Beach, Florida, as part of a five-day celebration with family and friends, according to The Guardian and ESPN.
The couple also held a non-official ceremony in Italy earlier this year.
Williams’ professional tennis career and recent nuptials, explained
In July, Venus made history as the second-oldest woman to win a tour-level singles match at the Washington DC Open. After the victory, she thanked Preti, who was in the stands during her on-court interview. At the time, she also confirmed the couple’s engagement, per Blavity, The Guardian and Harper’s Bazaar.
The couple first met at the Gucci show during Milan Fashion Week in 2024. Since then, they’ve spent time together, made their relationship official and got engaged at the top of the year, Today.com reported.
Before the historic win, Williams had taken some time off for health reasons. She plans to extend her tennis career, entering her 33rd consecutive season on the WTA Tour beginning in January in Auckland.
The Compton native’s professional goals and recent wedding celebrations prove that she has no plans to slow down any time soon. Her and Preti’s Palm Beach wedding followed several events, including a private courthouse ceremony on Friday morning and a larger celebration on Saturday, Vogue reported.
“We had this dream to do our wedding in Italy,” Williams told Vogue. “But we didn’t have enough time to do the paperwork — because I’m a foreigner, it can take about eight months. So we decided to have a second wedding.”
Who is Andrea Preti?
Preti is a Danish-born Italian actor and model. He was raised in Italy after his family relocated there during his teenage years.
From there, he started his modeling career, working across Europe before transitioning into acting, writing and directing.
Preti later moved to New York City, where he studied at the Susan Batson Academy and built acting credits in Italian commercials, film and television. He was a writer, director and actor for the 2014 indie film One More Day, appearing in the Italian series A Professor, starring in the 2023 drama Temptation, and competing on Italy’s version of The Mole, La Talpa, per Harper’s Bazaar.
After meeting and establishing a relationship with Williams, he has since been her biggest fan and supported her through all her professional endeavors.
