The international DJ-search reality TV show that Will & Jada Pinkett-Smith were teaming up with Simon Cowell to produce (announced in January this year), is apparently not going to happen.

According to a report by the New York Post, "there were some deal points that couldn’t be worked out, and Sony and Overbrook walked away," their source says.

Will & Jada, via their Overbrook Entertainment production company, was to team up with Simon Cowell and his Syco Entertainment production company to launch this new international TV show that was to find the world’s greatest DJs.

The series had already been developed, and Sony Pictures Television was soon to announce their broadcast partners for the live show in both the US and the UK.

At the time of the initial announcement in January, Cowell said, "We have been working on this show for over a year and we wanted to partner with the right people. As soon as I met Jada and Miguel from Overbrook, I knew they would be our ideal partners. DJ’s are the new rock stars, it feels like the right time to make this show."

Jada Pinkett-Smith added: "This show will comb the world to find a new breed of talent…"

I'm sure this news will be embraced by many; another reality talent show in a time that's overflowing with reality TV shows.

Simon Cowell has made a cagillion dollars already on this type of programming. Maybe the Smith's (both musicians themselves) saw the potential to capitalize and expand their brand.

But it looks like it's all dead now, if the NY Post is correct.
