A woman who accidentally sent her rent money to a stranger for the past two months is relieved after getting her money back. The tenant, who shared her story on TikTok, said she was confused when her landlord asked her why she didn’t pay her rent for two months.

“I’ve been paying my bills on the first every single month,” the woman said in her TikTok video.

When she checked her bank statements, the woman realized that she sent her rent money to a stranger through Zelle, the Daily Dot reported. She then contacted her bank, who said they can’t guarantee that she would get her money back.

Taking matters into her own hands, the woman found the stranger’s name and tried to contact her.

“I decided to text her, call her, everything,” she said on TikTok. “I even sent a request for the money back. Which is not a small amount. But she declined it and hasn’t responded to any of my text messages or any of my phone calls.”

She, however, made progress when she found woman on social media.

“So, the sleuth that I am, I went, and you know, Googled her, Googled her name, looked her up on Facebook, looked her up on Instagram, looked her up on TikTok, and yeah, I found her,” she continued. “And you know what else I found? I found her sister. I found her brother. I found her mom, and I found her dad. You know what her dad does? Architecture.”

When she called the father’s workplace, the woman didn’t get an answer. Although she wanted to continue her effort to find the stranger, the woman said she was also afraid of harassing her.

Posting a second video on TikTok, the woman assured some critics that she has no intention of harassing the person she’s trying to find. The TikTok user said said she only texted the woman four times and tried to contact her with a phone call.

As she was considering taking the woman to small claims court, the tenant learned that she is getting her money back after all. The TikTok user said she has now reached a peaceful conclusion with the woman, who she only identified as Abby.

“I manifested this… we did it together,” she said.

The TikTok video is now deleted because Abby asked for it to be taken down, the woman said.
