Jayden Myrick, who is Young Thug‘s co-defendant involved in the YSL RICO case, is getting a separate trial after a mental evaluation found that the 23-year-old YSL affiliate struggles with schizophrenia, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As reported by the outlet, Myrick was diagnosed with schizophrenia after telling a judge it had been months since taking his prescribed medication. He also stated that he wanted to represent himself due to having political friends in high places, which raised eyebrows. “I’m not the regular inmate,” he said in court. “I be with Joe Biden and Donald Trump and they be talking to me. Donald Trump is going to get me out.”

These statements, of course, prompted Superior Fulton County Chief Judge Ural Glanville, who is presiding over the case, to call for Myrick’s mental evaluation, which determined his mental illness. Judge Glanville then ruled an individual trial for Myrick, saying “I think severance would be appropriate at this point in time.”

Myrick’s charges include attempted murder, possession of a weapon by an incarcerated individual, conspiracy to violate the RICO Act, and participation in criminal street gang activity. Prosecutors say that Myrick also stabbed Young Thug’s foe, rapper YFN Lucci, in February 2022. On top of the allegations, he was serving a life sentence for Christian Broder’s murder prior to the YSL indictment.

He’s been denied bond three times due to being a potential flight risk. Still, Young Thug’s lawyer, Brian Steel, filed a fourth motion in late April. He claims his client is being “sleep deprived” as he awaits trial due to long court days that typically start around 4 a.m. or 5 a.m. “Mr. Williams is not a risk to commit a crime and he’s not a risk to flee the jurisdiction and that’s what bond is about,” Steel said.
