There’s some new Euphoria news, as the head of HBO has confirmed which cast members are set to return, as well as what’s going on with a time jump in the series.

Variety asked HBO CEO and chairman Casey Bloys: “Will the main cast — including Zendaya, Jacob Elordi, Sydney Sweeney and Hunter Schafer — be back and would you consider continuing the show with a different cast?”

Bloys responded by saying, “it’s the same core cast.”

HBO has confirmed when the teen drama will come back to the airwaves in 2025. However, there will be a time jump from the characters going from high school to adulthood. How big will the jump be?

Bloys told Variety that the answer isn’t as set in stone as fans would like. As he said, “One of the issues I think that Sam [Levinson] is thinking about is that he doesn’t want to have it in high school anymore. That’s where it was set and what made sense then. So when you take it out of that, there’s a lot of back and forth about where to set it and how far to set it in the future to set it and all that stuff. But I think he’s got a take that he’s excited about, and he’s busy writing.”

TVLine reports that the time jump has been rumored at one point to be five years into the future. Another rumor was that Levinson was going to turn the series into a “film noir” in which Rue (Zendaya) and the characters “explore what it means to be an individual with principles in a corrupt world.” Regardless of what point in time we’ll the core characters, it will test the characters’ mettle.

At the very least, the series is beginning to come into shape a little bit, since the last time we checked up on the series’ progress, The Hollywood Reporter stated that HBO announced the cast were available to “pursue other opportunities” while Levinson and HBO hashed out the particulars of the third season.
