Rev. Al Sharpton, the host of MSNBC's Politics Nation, may have possibly managed to make Madonna's tribute to Aretha Franklin look like the Mona Lisa.

The civil rights icon and longtime friend to the late Queen of Soul tried to get a little too cute while lambasting the president for calling former White House staffer Omarosa Manigault Newman a dog. Trump's tweet, which falls in line with other hateful and incendiary statements made toward his black critics, helped her more than expected.

Manigault Newman's book Unhinged appears to be a tell-all about the inner workings of the Trump administration and has sold 34,000 copies in its first week, catapulting the book to the top of The New York Times' best-seller list, US News reports.

In the closing moments of his show, Sharpton referenced Franklin's 1967 hit "Respect" while demanding Trump give a little "R-E-S-P-I-C-T" to Omarosa, but he went all scattered brain and misspelled the word like a horrible Trump tweet — or all Trump tweets.

There's always tomorrow.
