Southwest Airlines is in the news once again following new charges of racial discrimination and segregation. This time it is regarding a former employee who claims there was "whites only" break room and noose found at the Hobby Airport in Houston, Texas.

Former employee Jamel Parker has filed a lawsuit suing Southwest for lost wages and "extreme race discrimination." Parker told local Houston outlet KHOU a black supervisor, who was employed at the airline since 2013, said there was a "whites only" break room.

"He said it’s just best to avoid that," Parker said. "Just don’t go in there. And that’s exactly what I did."

Parker was fired last year for running over a power cord and failing to report the incident to his supervisors. After learning of the alleged segregated space, he remained quiet in order to keep his job and have a decent rapport with co-workers.

"I didn’t want any trouble," he said. "I didn’t want to target on my back. I have a very good-paying job. I have really good benefits. I’m not here to make any waves. I really just, really blocked that out. I’m just here to work."

The break room was reportedly there before a renovation of Hobby Airport changed the floor plan, reports KHOU. However, the room was only one of many racially charged incidents. Parker said white employees made a noose out of bungee cords and hung it at the Southwest gate at Hobby.

"Someone took that cord and created a noose and just left it on there for people to see. It was out in the open," Parker said.

Despite the trauma, Parker is suing for lost wages and his job back. Southwest Airlines has refuted claims of fostering a racist work environment, CNN reports. The airline has refused to offer more on the incident due to pending litigation.

"We work relentlessly to foster an environment that is diverse and inclusive. We do not tolerate or condone discrimination of any kind, and we cultivate a workplace that mirrors the customers we serve," the airline said in a statement.

Earlier this year, an interracial couple was harassed on the airline because a Southwest airlines agent didn't believe their mixed son was theirs.
