Angel Reese is giving back to her high school, St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, with donation to the girls’ basketball team. The LSU champion is donating $12,000 to the same fund that helped her with tuition when she was a student at the school. The donation will cover tuition for a member of the Lady Panthers, Reese’s mother shared on social media.

Reese also hosted a “Back-to-School Giveback Block Party” at her alma mater over the weekend. The event featured donations of essential items such as school supplies, backpacks, clothing, food and hygiene products, as well as essentials for children from Baltimore.

Following the event, Reese thanked those who participated. She also shared that additional events are to be expected. Reese thanked her mother for supporting her throughout this endeavor.

The event marked the official launch of the Angel C. Reese Foundation, which the basketball star announced last month. The goal of the foundation is to empower girls and women by providing them opportunities in areas such as sports, education and financial literacy.

Reese has gained widespread recognition since helping LSU win the 2023 Women’s NCAA Championship earlier this year. She was recently awarded the title of Best Breakthrough Athlete of the Year at the 2023 ESPY Awards. Reese was also previously named “Most Outstanding Player” of the Final Four and is one of the college athletes with the most NIL deals. The basketball star has been building her career as an athlete by securing deals with top brands such as Mielle Organics, STARRY and Bose.

The 21-year-old was featured in Harper’s BAZAAR’s Icons issue, where she discussed her career aspirations. 

“My biggest priority right now is just being me,” she told the magazine. “My goal is to play in the WNBA, but I also have aspirations to be a model, just being able to tap into both sides. A lot of people don’t see women’s basketball players being able to do both. I want to push that new narrative of being able to be cute off court but when you get on the court, just being able to ball.”

“I’ve always been confident. I am unapologetic. I stay firm on what I believe in, and, being a Black woman, I can do whatever I put my mind to,” Reese added. “I love being able to see the little girls that look up to me, who are inspired by me. I didn’t know how many people that I had inspired and touched, but now it feels like every time I go out somewhere, everybody actually recognizes me.”
