Atlanta Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms informed her cabinet members that she expects their letters of resignation by the end of the day Monday, reported the Atlanta Journal-Constitution,
A city official, who declined to be identified, confirmed that Mayor Bottoms told the group of 35 leading city officials she will decide whether or not to accept the resignations by the end of the week.
Initially, Mayor Bottoms informed former mayor Kasim Reed's cabinet that she would allow them to remain in their respective positions for 90 days while she got settled. Now that time is up, and the mayor seemingly wants to start fresh.
It has not yet been confirmed who — if anyone — Mayor Bottoms will retain, but the AJC reports Communications Director Anne Torres' city-issued cell phone is no longer in service.
The move comes as the southern city's government struggles following a major cyberattack, which has forced workers to handle affairs the old fashioned-way — manually, via paper.
Bottoms' mayoral victory in Atlanta, Georgia, caused a rumble throughout the city; both in terms of black girl magic and controversy. Shortly after Bottoms' very narrow victory, her opponent Mary Norwood demanded a recount.
We'll make sure to keep an eye out for further developments.
