Atlanta DJ and producer Christen Nilan, known to fans as DJ Speakerfoxx, has passed away at 35 years old. News of the passing of the beloved local talent, who was affectionately referred to as "The Queen of Atlanta," began circulating over the weekend. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported there are no details regarding the cause of Nilan's untimely death which was confirmed by her manager, Xen Lang, on Sunday.
"She was an inspiration to all, through her passion, her ongoing support for ATL music and underground culture. She touched many with her dedication, upbeat attitude and excellent music taste. No one was more passionate about their craft, culture and city," Lang said in a statement to Fader.
Nilan, who attended the Paideia School and Agnes Scott College, made a name for herself with early trap-vibe mixtapes like Dopeboy Anthems and Dopegirl Anthems along with DJ'ing for artists including Three 6 Mafia’s Gangsta Boo, Rittz and Yelawolf. She was also popular for her work with Atlanta-based singer and songwriter BOSCO on their 2016 collaboration album Girls in the Yard.
The young R&B and Afrofuturism artist took to Twitter to express her condolences and share updates regarding the memorial service.
"Gonna throw a legendary concert for our girl to celebrate her life. She is the true queen of Atlanta," she wrote.

Man. Speakerfoxx was a pillar of my time in Atlanta. I lived for the nights she would DJ at El Bar. Shit, I drove from my job in Nashville to El Bar several times for those nights. May she rest in peace https://t.co/vd3Yr53FtH
