A violent Baltimore police officer has resigned from the force after footage of him attacking a man seemingly without warrant circulated, according to NPR.

The officer, who has yet to be identified, was seen in an Instagram video which went viral over the weekend, repeatedly punching 26-year-old DaShawn McGrier. In the beginning of the video, the unidentified officer is seen approaching McGrier with the man then yelling at the officer not to touch him.

McGrier lightly pushes the officer away as he begins to put his hands on him. The officer responds by throwing at least a dozen punches at the man. He then pins him to the ground and continues to attack him. McGrier did not retaliate. The officer standing alongside his belligerent former colleague makes a couple of failed attempts to halt the attack.

Attorney Warren Brown, who is representing McGrier, said his client now suffers a fractured jaw and ribs; and lost feeling in one of his legs according to Vox. Hours after the beating, the officer was suspended. He resigned on Sunday.

“It seems like this officer had just decided that Dashawn was going to be his punching bag,” Brown told The Baltimore Sun. “And this was a brutal attack that was degrading and demeaning to my client, to that community, and to the police department.”

NPR reports McGrier and the cop had a previous run-in in June; the former was charged with assaulting the cop. It's currently unclear what exactly occurred between the two during the incident.

Just a few weeks ago, another Baltimore officer was caught on video physically attacking a 13-year-old boy and saying, “I’m about to send this kid to the f**king hospital."

The kid, whose mom says he has a mental disability, was reportedly left with a black eye. The officer in that incident has also not been identified.
