Barbara Pierce Bush, daughter of former Republican President George W. Bush, has spoken out about who she’s voting for in the upcoming presidential election, as has actor and former Republican California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
People reported that Bush recently campaigned for Vice President Kamala Harris.
What Barbara Pierce Bush says about campaigning for Harris
Bush told the outlet, “It was inspiring to join friends and meet voters with the Harris-Walz campaign in Pennsylvania this weekend.” She added, “I’m hopeful they’ll move our country forward and protect women’s rights.”
According to People, the 42-year-old has been vocal about her support of reproductive and women’s rights and spoke at a 2017 fundraiser for Planned Parenthood.
Is Barbara Pierce Bush a Republican?
In 2010, Bush told People, “I don’t really label myself as Republican or Democrat.” Her twin sister, Jenna Bush Hager, added, “We’re both very independent thinkers.”
While former President Bush and his wife, Laura Bush, have chosen not to comment on the election, Dick Cheney, his former vice president, announced in September that he would vote for Harris, saying, “In our nation’s 248-year history, there has never been an individual who is a greater threat to our republic than Donald Trump.” He concluded, “As citizens, we each have a duty to put country above partisanship to defend our Constitution. That is why I will be casting my vote for Vice President Kamala Harris.”
Cheney’s daughter, former Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, who also served as chair of the House Republican Conference, has endorsed Harris, Blavity reported.
They aren’t the only Republicans who plan to vote blue on Election Day.
Arnold Schwarzenegger has also endorsed Harris
In a lengthy tweet, Schwarzenegger shared, “I will always be an American before I am a Republican. That’s why, this week, I am voting for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.”
He remarked in part, “We need to close the door on this chapter of American history, and I know that former President Trump won’t do that. He will divide, he will insult, he will find new ways to be more un-American than he already has been, and we, the people, will get nothing but more anger.”
