When the Unite the Right rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, on Aug. 12, 2017 turned violent, video, photos and comments on social media quickly flooded media coverage throughout the day — turning the nation's eyes on the eruption of hatred after white supremacists and alt-right members protested the removal of a Confederate statue. One video that went viral on social media was of a group of white men brutally beating Deandre Harris in a parking garage during the rally.

The Charlottesville Police Department recently arrested a fourth suspect in the incident, according to a press release. On Jan. 17, the police department obtained arrest warrants for 49-year-old Tyler Watkins Davis of Middleburg, Florida. The Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested Davis on Jan. 24 and is holding him at the Clay County Jail in Green Springs Cove, Florida, pending extradition to Charlottesville. Davis is being charged with malicious wounding. No further details were provided as the investigation into the attack is ongoing.

Harris, 20, was attacked by a group of white supremacists during the Unite the Right rally which turned deadly back in August 2017. Journalist Zach D. Roberts posted photos of the men beating Harris with poles, and Journalist Chuck Modi posted video of the incident. In September, Harris was also charged with malicious wounding in his own beating and naturally people were outraged. Harris turned himself in and was released on an unsecured bond.
