Of all the places she’s performed as a solo artist, R&B starlet Chlöe had yet to reach NPR’s Tiny Desk Concert. However, that changed on Tuesday.

In 2020, Chloe x Halle serenaded the Tiny Desk stage together from home, singing some of the biggest tracks from their second album, Ungodly Hour.

For Tuesday’s performance, Chlöe kicked things off with “Surprise,” her third solo single Beyoncé picked for release that set the grown and sexy mood before segueing into “Body Do,” the third single released from her debut solo album, In Pieces. She instructed the band to “Make it sexy, y’all” before introducing “I Don’t Mind,” telling the audience, “This next song I’m about to sing is dedicated to every single one of my exes ’cause I know they want that old thing back.”

The performance initially included two backup singers, but flight cancelations prohibited one, and “the team decided the ensemble would go without,” according to producer Suraya Mohamed.

Chlöe mentioned, “As I’m getting older, I’m learning that life can be a b***h, and I’m like, instead of stressing about what I can’t control, I’m just not gonna worry about it,” before she sang “Worried.”

To introduce the title track, the 25-year-old shared, “I feel like it’s important to be honest and transparent about our vulnerabilities and what we’re going through, and, a lot of times, I’ve been broken down, and the cracks would be left, but that doesn’t make me imperfect. That doesn’t take away any beauty that I have deep inside. And it’s important to surround ourselves with the ones who’ll appreciate us in all of that glory.”

The performance concluded with “Cheatback.”

Chlöe did her thing and showed out, with many of her fans inclined to praise her with open arms on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“This tiny desk version of body do is insane … like chloe is a genius,” a fan tweeted.

“Chloe Bailey is a superstar ⭐️ and it’s clear as day here on this #TinyDesk performance,” another fan shared on the social media site.

Aside from kicking off the fourth quarter of the year on a high note with her Tiny Desk performance, Chlöe recently discussed rejoining her sister Halle again for their next studio album toward the beginning of next year.

“I am so excited for top of next year when we start honing in again on our third album,” she said. “I know we’re really excited. It’s going to be so special. We’ve both lived a lot, and we’ve grown a lot. And then we’ll be able to put our minds together again for an even more special project.”
