Rolling Ray wasn’t too pleased with Doja Cat‘s decision to trademark “It’s Giving,” a phrase that the Bobby I Love You, Purr star widely popularized on social media. However, they appear to have settled the matter through a series of behind-the-scenes DMs.
The situation unfolded late last week after Doja Cat announced that she would soon be launching a clothing line called “It’s Giving,” and her promotional video for the brand featured the rapper using the popular catchphrase.
“It was supposed to give, but it did not give what needed to be gave to the highest of giving,” she said in the video.

To many, this appeared to be a direct reference to the phrase Rolling Ray popularized while criticizing a Popeye’s chicken sandwich a few years ago, as he recorded himself saying, “It’s not even giving what y’all said it was supposed to gave. No, I wasted my money! So, send me my money back, now!
Resultingly, Rolling Ray popped off in a now-deleted tweet.
“This b***h said let me steal from this handicap black b***h & copy righted my saying uh whole year ago!! Lord I’m tired of fighting,” he wrote.

Other Twitter users chimed in to support Rolling Ray (or to speak on the absurdity of the situation).
Rolling Ray popularized It’s Giving and “it’s giving/not giving what it was supposed to have gave”. We all know this. No one should pretend to be confused – idk why he didn’t trademark it, but I do know trademarking isn’t cheap and that not everyone knows that someone can

Rather than drag out the controversy, Doja Cat swiftly put it to rest by imploring Rolling Ray to “check dm,” and the social media icon appeared to be pleased with whatever the “Say So” singer sent his way.

With the matter settled, Doja Cat’s “It’s Giving” line proceeded to launch without a hitch.

This isn’t the first time Rolling Ray has sparked beef over someone seemingly trying to make a quick buck off one of his catchphrases.
Last year, after Coi Leray dropped “BIG PURR (Prrdd),” Rolling Ray accused her of “trying to steal [his] word,” “Purrr.”

Coi Leray denied this in an unintentionally humorous voice message, and Rolling Ray ultimately responded with a diss track, “BigPurrr.”

However, similar to the case with Doja Cat, Rolling Ray ultimately made peace with Coi Leray, and he even went out of his way to show her some loving support online after she expressed that she was “tired of being bullied” by internet trolls.
