Goosebumps has performed its final scare at Disney+.

Variety reports that the teen horror anthology based on R.L. Stine’s book series is not getting a third season at the streamer. A source told the outlet that even though the series is cancelled at Disney+, Sony Pictures Television, which produces the series, is free to shop it to other outlets. Sony Pictures Television can also mine the series for “different creative directions.”

At the time of GoosebumpsSeason 2 renewal in 2024, Disney Branded Television President Ayo Davis said the series was one of Disney Branded Television’s “most-watched shows of last year.” Season 2 was branded Goosebumps: The Vanishing.

Katherine Pope, Sony Pictures Television Studios’ president, also said at the time how she was “incredibly proud of the work of our writers, producers, cast and crew and the vision they brought to season one, which a new generation of fans are loving alongside those who grew in R.L. Stine’s iconic world.”

What were Season 1 and Season 2 of ‘Goosebumps’ about?

The first season followed “a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.”

The second season followed a pair of teenage siblings who discover a threat within their home, setting off a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery revolving around five teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.
