Jason George is officially making his return back to Grey’s Anatomy now that Station 19 is over.
Variety reports that George, who starred in Grey’s Anatomy in between 2010 and 2012 as surgical resident Ben Warren, is returning to the series as a series regular after starring on spinoff series Station 19 since 2018. The character decided to leave his practice as a surgical resident to become a firefighter. But now that Station 19 has ended, Ben is apparently ready to put white doctor’s coat back on.
Station 19 was cancelled last year, with executive producer Shonda Rhimes giving the show a farewell on Instagram.
“Grateful for an unforgettable run,” she wrote at the time. “A heartfelt salute to the exceptional cast whose brilliance brought the characters to life and to the viewers who continued to make it possible! Thank you for the magic, the moments, and the memories.”
The show’s last episode aired May 30.
George’s return to Grey’s Anatomy has been in the works since its cancellation, with his character already establishing his return to the hospital. As early as June 2024, ABC hadn’t confirmed George would actually return. But conversations were already underway, and the show’s new showrunner, Meg Martinis, had also showcased her desire to have George and fellow Station 19 actor Stefania Spampinato join the cast.
