KiKi Layne is joining The Boys universe for the upcoming prequel series, Vought Rising.

Deadline reports that Vought Rising, the prequel series to The Boys, has cast Layne and Mason Dye as series regulars.

They round out a previously announced cast including Jensen Ackles, Aya Cash, Will Hochman, Elizabeth Posey, Jorden Myrie, Nicolò Pasetti, Ricky Stafferi and Brian J. Smith.

What we know so far about the ‘Vought Rising’ plot

Vought Rising is described as a “twisted murder mystery” about the beginnings of shady superhero serum company Vought International.

Set in the 1950s, the series follows, as The Boys creator Eric Kripke and Vought Rising showrunner Paul Grellong previously said (per Deadline), “the early exploits of Soldier Boy and the diabolical maneuvers of a Supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought.”

Who will KiKi Layne play in ‘Vought Rising’

Layne is believed to be playing “a Harlem housewife with ambitions,” according to the article. Dye, on the other hand, is thought to be playing a drug addict who was originally a combat pilot. Ackles is set to reprise his The Boys role, Soldier Boy, alongside his The Boys co-star Cash, who will reprise his role, Stormfront.

Vought Rising begins production this month.

Layne is not new to genre television. She’s recently starred in The Old Guard 2, the latest in The Old Guard franchise. Her character in the franchise, Nile Freeman, is the newest of the immortal warriors meant to protect the world. The Old Guard 2 is currently streaming on Netflix.
