Football season is underway and Taye Diggs is using his love for the sport to show off his singing chops with his go-to karaoke song.

The veteran actor partnered with Lysol to not only spread awareness around germs ahead of the cold/flu season, but also share his joy for singing with fans at the Lysol Germ Booth during a recent tailgate ahead of gameday at the University of Alabama.

“Football season is one of my favorite times of the year, especially going to game day watch parties,” Diggs told Blavity just a few days before the event. “But, I learned through my partnership with Lysol that cheering your team can result in viruses and bacteria expelled in the air – shouting can produce up to 100,000 droplets per minute. That’s why Lysol® Air Sanitizer is my game day must-have. It kills 99.9% of airborne viruses and bacteria† to eliminate odors in the air*, so you can protect your home while cheering on your favorite team all season long,” he added.

While fans could come in and sing their team’s chant at their loudest, the actor chose to sing his favorite song, which he calls the perfect football song.

“I’m singing ‘We Are The Champions’ by Queen at Lyson’s The Germ Zone booth – an interactive game day experience where we will be educating football fans on the importance of sanitizing the air around them so they can take what they learn and bring it to their everyday lives and at-home watch parties with Lysol Air Sanitizer,” Diggs explained. “’We Are The Champions’ is a great football song for any winner, no matter what your favorite team! It is also a great song to belt in ‘The Germ Zone’ – for the VR technology to populate on surrounding LED screens just how many bacteria and viruses release into the air when cheering on your favorite team.”

When he isn’t belting out his favorite karaoke track, Diggs serves as a judge on Second Chance Stage, a new show premiering soon on Max/Magnolia Network that allows performers another chance at pursuing their dreams.

Additionally, he reappeared in the most recent season of All American after his character, Billy Baker, was killed off in season 5. He says being a part of the show for such a long time was life-changing.

“It was a great experience and it changed my life,” said Diggs. “I really missed the cast because we were like a family, so it was great to be able to return to the show as a guest.”
