As if further proof was needed to prove how multitalented Issa Rae already is, the Golden Globe winner is tapping into the wine industry with the announcement of her very own Prosecco brand.
To make her wine dreams a reality, Rae collaborated with E. & J. Gallo Winery to craft Viarae Prosecco, which is now available in select cities nationwide. In a press release, the alcoholic drink is expected to offer customers’ tastebuds an “expressive, aromatic, and subtly dry” flavor that can sipped alone or in another drink of choice.
Oct. 16, Rae shared the news on Instagram with a promo video for her wine.
“If you know me, you know how much I love Prosecco. Now I’ve created my own!” she captioned the clip. “Introducing Viarae Prosecco, a sparkling wine for good times. Get your bottle @viaraewines today! Extra love to my friends @jai_lorenzo, @mlawson314 @justaba, @devindanielle12 for always being my muses.”

Turns out, her wine concept has been years in the making since sparking wine has always been a personal favorite of hers. Also, fans of Rae’s Insecure will recall that Prosecco was usually her self-named character’s beverage of choice, so it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise that this business venture was next on her radar.
“I am thrilled to share my love of Prosecco with everyone through Viarae. It’s carefully crafted, deliciously crisp, and the perfect beverage to celebrate La Dolce Vita,” the Barbie actress said in a statement.
The 38-year-old’s new wine collection will hopefully help play a role in shifting the wine industry, where Black women are underrepresented. Her packaging, which includes the colors gold and brown, is influenced by her dedication to championing Black ownership.
“We are excited to partner with Issa Rae, who entrusted us with executing her vision of the perfect Prosecco — one that shares our desire to serve joy in everyday moments. Crisp, lively, and expressive, this is a perfect choice for those candid, unfiltered times with friends, whether that’s a sunny day by the pool or in the bright city lights at night,” said Beth Orozco, E.& J. Gallo Winery’s Vice President of Marketing. “Issa also shares our mission to demystify wine and make it more inclusive. Viarae will help us reach that goal.”
Rae’s Prosecco is entirely grown and crafted by the renowned La Marca cooperative in Northern Italy. Sparkling wine lovers can find out where to get Viarae Prosecco on the company’s site when they type in their zip code.
