Kiersey Clemons just might be the DC Extended Universe’s Iris West. Nothing is official yet, and Warner Bros. is tucking this close to the vest with no official comment. Variety exclusively reported that that Clemons is the pick to play the female lead in The Flash.

There hasn’t been any talk at all about character, but any fan of the show on the CW knows better. Iris West in the DC television universe is played by Candice Patton. The casting choice to race bend the character was a big hit, even though the trolls did come out. It’s also a well known fact that fans have been petitioning to #KeepIrisBlack on the silver screen as well.

If Kiersey plays Iris West in The Flash, it will be so dope.

A role in the DC/Warner Bros. film will reunite her with Dope (and also dope) director Rick Famuyiwa. We’ll have to wait and see if Clemons is confirmed for The Flash and which character she would play. But even the idea that this might happen has me hype already. For a lot of fans who were worried about who Iris would be in the film, they may be able to rest easy. Everyone who was writing off The Flash because of mixed reviews on Batman v Superman may have to think again.

UPDATE: Our suspicions have been confirmed! #KeepIrisBlack is a win. Kiersey Clemons will be playing the character in the DCEU. This has literally been one of the best stretch for black and PoC characters in comic book films. But most of all, it’s given the blerd fam tons of reasons to celebrate together. By the way, that Justice League trailer is looking like fire!
