Kevin Durant hopes to send kids to college with his latest project.

On Wednesday, the NBA legend announced plans to open The Durant Center in his hometown of Prince George's County, Maryland, The Washington Post reports. Durant collaborated with College Track to open the center. College Track uses a 10-year program to prepare underserved kids to attend college. Durant has invested $10 million into the program.

This isn’t Durant’s first time giving to others. His foundation has built parks and basketball courts across the country, but the Golden State Warrior wanted to switch it up, and he hooked up with the Oakland-based College Track after being impressed with the company's Bay Area work.

College Track had a few locations in mind for its first East Coast base, but Durant had already made up his mind.

“It wasn’t so much that he didn’t want to do something in the Bay,” College Track CEO Elissa Salas said. “But he was looking to really invest really deeply in his home community.”

Durant said the center would help him to be like the adults who looked after him when he was a kid.

“I had coaches and teachers that believed I could be something special. That’s where it starts,” Durant told The Mercury News. “Just older folks that believe and trust in your potential, whether it’s coaches, teachers or guidance counselors. You need someone with more experience who believe in you.”

He hopes The Durant Center will give Prince George's County children clarity about their futures.

“At an early age, I knew I loved basketball," Durant said. "I know what it feels like to know what you’re going to do in life in the NBA. A lot of kids don’t have that opportunity. I just want to help spark the flame I have as best as I can. So they can think about what they want to do. That’ll get the ball rolling.”
