Bigi “Blanket” Jackson and Prince Jackson, the sons of the late Michael Jackson, attended the Berlin premiere for the biopic Michael. They posed with other members of the Jackson family on the red carpet in order to celebrate the film, which is set for an April 24 release.
Bigi Jackson made a rare public appearance alongside his brother Prince
The brothers attended the Berlin premiere of Michael on Friday. For the occasion, they chose to honor their father by wearing coordinated armbands in reference to the King of Pop’s signature look. Michael Jackson often wore an armband as a symbol of helping children in need, according to People.
Blanket and Prince’s armbands featured the singer’s feet in one of his signature dance moves. They were joined on the red carpet by family members, including their uncles Jermaine Jackson and Jackie Jackson, as well as their cousin Jaafar Jackson, who portrays Michael in the movie, according to E! Online.
For Bigi, this marked a rare public appearance. The last time he attended a public event was in March 2024 for the preview of MJ: The Musical at London’s Prince Edward Theatre. At the time, he was joined by his sister Paris Jackson, who was absent from last Friday’s premiere.
Paris Jackson has said she wasn’t involved in the upcoming ‘Michael’ biopic
Prince and Bigi’s sister, singer and actress Paris Jackson, previously expressed her desire to distance herself from the project. She referred to the film as a “sugar-coated” version of her father’s life.
“I read one of the first drafts of the script and gave my notes about what was dishonest / didn’t sit right with me and when they didn’t address it I moved on with my life,” Paris wrote on social media in August, according to E Online. “Not my monkeys not my circus. God bless and god speed.”
“The thing about these biopics is it’s Hollywood, so it’s fantasyland,” she added. “There’s a lot of inaccuracy and there’s a lot of just full-blown lies.”
“A big section of the film panders to a very specific section of my dad’s fandom that still lives in the fantasy,” she also wrote. “Go enjoy it. Do whatever. Leave me out of it.”
Though Paris did not attend this premiere, she was supportive of the premiere of the Broadway musical, MJ the Musical, at its premiere a few years ago. The three siblings attended together, and this was the last time Bigi made a public appearance before the Berlin premiere of Michael.
