An Ohio State football player has been cleared of all rape charges after his female accuser admitted she fabricated the accusations after the two ended their romantic relationship.

Bri'Onte Dunn faced up to 22 years in prison after refusing to take a plea for a misdemeanor charge, according to the Columbus Dispatch. Charged with three counts of rape from the alleged August 2017 incident, Dunn vehemently denied all allegations. The jury deliberated for three hours and found Dunn innocent.

Following their breakup, the university running back requested a ride from the 26-year-old unidentified woman, who then took him to her home to await an Uber ride.

"He was touching me, groping me outside of my clothes. I told him to stop again. That time he didn't stop," said the woman during her October 17 testimony, 10 TV reports.

After screaming for him to stop and get off of her, she claims Dunn apologized and removed himself.

Defense attorney Joe Landusky claimed the woman lied because she felt scorned.

"She fell in love. She said you are now my boyfriend; I love you; I want to have your baby. I want to be the wife of an NFL football player. Because my client didn't say goodbye in an appropriate way, he has now become a rapist," Landusky said.

“I’m happy that the whole world can see that I’m innocent,” Dunn said. “I’m just trying to get back with my life, and hopefully renewing my career. I hope the coaches will understand that I’m an innocent man like I am… I never thought an innocent man could get this far in the process.”

Dunn posted a link to a GoFundMe to recoup his costs from the trial on Thursday.
