Over 25,000 people have signed a petition that aims to stop singer and self-proclaimed king of R&B Jacquees from doing any more cover songs.

The Change.org petition, which went live on December 21, calls on the Black community to do something about the cocky young singer. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the petition initially had a goal of 25,000 signatures, but it has surpassed the target and is currently aiming for 35,000 signatures.

Jacquees recently experienced the wrath of the internet when he declared himself the king of R&B on December 8.

Although many of his fellow musicians were quick to name other, more established artists the true king, The-Dream said he empathizes with Jacquees because he felt the same way when he was building his career, according to Fader.

"[Jacquees] said he the king. You gotta be the king man, you know. That's how you gotta talk man. You gotta talk that way. I did the same thing before I wrote 'Single Ladies.' I walked in the studio, and I was known for talking myself into a corner,” he said during a visit to Beats 1.

The “Falsetto” singer believes confidence can be a career booster.

"That was … how I dealt with pressure and everything. So I walked into the studio, [and said] 'I don't know who got the single in here, but you ain't got it no more.' I didn't know what I was going to write,” he added.

Before making his bold proclamation, however, Jacquees was busy remixing and covering many popular songs.

He did a cover/remix of Michael Jackson's "Dirty Diana":

As well as a cover of Donnie Hathaway's "This Christmas":

And even Beyoncé's "Bow Down":

Ricky Fields, who started the Change.org petition, had enough, writing, "As a Black community, we have to figure out how we getting rid of Jacquees."

Jacquees has yet to respond to the effort.
