From the gifted mind of writer/producer/actress Issa Rae came a TV series with more relatable drama than we could handle. Still, every week we were glued to our television screens eagerly awaiting to see just how said drama would unfold. HBO's 'Insecure' brought us a young, black woman who seemingly felt out of place in the world, at her job, and even in some of her personal relationships.

We watched Issa navigate her way through a broken friendship with her best friend Molly, and a broken relationship with her boyfriend Lawrence. In fact, during the explosive final episode of its first season, titled "'Broken as F…", the pulsating tension between Molly and Issa is finally put at ease. After a bit of time (and a lot of shade), both women see clearly the value of their friendship again. Yay! Because it was so unfortunate to see these BFFs at war.

As for Issa's relationship with Lawrence on the other hand… well let's just say we were left on the most heart-wrenchingly iconic cliffhanger in TV history. Back shots and Best Buy would probably be the most non-NSFW way to describe the last few seconds of the season. If you haven't caught up with season 1 of 'Insecure', it would behoove you to do so. Season 2 is all set up to be a great one.

Here are 8 reasons we should all be excited AF for the season 2 premiere of 'Insecure':

1. Issa and Lawrence — Where Do We Go From Here?

Yes. We. Because we're all invested in this relationship too. Lawrence underwent a glo up onscreen from the uninspired sweetheart with zero career ambition to the equal parts sexy and driven professional once he started getting on his own two feet. The push and pull between them was evident but finding out what comes next is super important. Issa's infidelity sparked the downward spiral after feeling insecure in her own relationship, and it left Lawrence eagerly running into the open arms (and legs) of bank teller Tasha. Sigh.

2. Issa and Daniel — More to Explore?

The chemistry between Issa and former flame Daniel is undeniable. After all, being caught up in the heat of passion is what really pushed Issa's relationship with boyfriend Lawrence downhill. Though things became extremely awkward between Issa and Daniel after their affair, it's not too hard to tell that there's still a bit of room for something to jump off. After all, they're both single now…

3. Molly and….?

Successful and savvy in the boardroom. Sexy and sultry in the bedroom. Molly Carter is the bachelorette many men want and many women want to be. She's headstrong and outspoken, though sometimes she puts her foot in her mouth. Regardless we love her, and coincidentally this is the one area Molly seems to fumble under–love. We've seen her court a few men throughout the season, some with the intent of solely being a fling thing, others she'd hoped for longevity from. Still, just as many have gone as they've come (double entendre). We just want Molly to win, and keep winning.

4. Tiffany DuBois

Because we always want that friend who we sometimes question is even a friend on our screen. Tiffany DuBois is the epitome of bad and bougie. She's gorgeous and successful, but sharp-tongued and snarky. She runs in the same circle as Issa and Molly, but sometimes we question where her loyalty lies. Beyond this, you can help but silently cheer at her quips. We'd love to see more of Tiffany on our screens next season.

HBO

5. Kelli

She's hilarious in every scene and a great source of comedic relief since her very first appearance in the show. Kelli's wit and humor helps bring light to every situation. She's the friend who you sometimes get annoyed with because she doesn't take things too seriously, but in the end you're glad you called her. We love us some Kelli!

6. Reintroducing South L.A. to the World

Location plays a major role in this show. We see the reality of South L.A. by the apartment complex Issa and Lawrence live in, who their neighbors are, and through the children Issa work with. There's also a symbol of revitalization and reintroduction through Issa's work at her nonprofit "We Got Y'all".There's more to sunny Los Angeles than high profile neighborhoods and luxury. Luckily, the show takes us through it all.

HBO

7. For the Culture

'Insecure' has proven to be at the center of what's hot in black pop culture, obviously. It's just even more amazing to see the things we discuss in our homes and amongst friends being discussed on our screens by those who look like us and have power to spark influence and create change. Whether or not this serves as the intent, 'Insecure' has in one season become one of the most generation-defining scripted series of our time.

Hope y'all are ready for the second season!
