This Friday, November 2, will see wide releases of two new films with with black talents at the center, whether in front of or behind the camera, or both: RZA's The Man With The Iron Fist, which he also stars in, and Robert Zemeckis' Flight which stars Denzel Washington and Don Cheadle.

Each opens on 1800 screens around the USA, although both have very different target audiences; one will probably appeal more o the older, more conservative crowd; the other will likely primarily attract youthful fanboys and girls alike. Both, however, should see wide appeal, meaning neither is being marketed heavily to one racial or ethnic group; in this case black folks, just because the central figures involved in each film are black.

In Flight, Denzel stars as an alcoholic and drug-addicted pilot, on course towards a life-change who saves a flight from an engine malfunction, rescuing the plane and the passengers, and becoming a hero, only to find his non-public substance abuse problem, brought to light, thanks to an FAA investigation into the case.

Don Cheadle, Tamara Tunie and Garcelle Beauvais, amongst many others, co-star.

In Iron Fists, on the hunt for a fabled treasure of gold, a band of warriors, assassins, and a rogue British soldier descend upon a village in feudal China, where a humble blacksmith (played by RZA) looks to defend himself and his fellow villagers.

Russell Crowe, Pam Grier, Lucy Liu, Rick Yune, Dave Bautista, Jamie Chung and others round out the cast; Quentin Tarantino and Eli Roth served as producers on this $20 million project.
