Spoiler alert – it’s you.

That’s right, the fans (especially blerds) won this year’s San Diego Comic-Con. Every year, someone wastes time dissecting what moment/announcement was the most exciting, or what trailer looked the best. But the facts are, the exclusives were plenty and they rained from the sky like blessings from heaven. Even more importantly, we were able to share and enjoy them with each other. We should all be reveling in the litness that was SDCC for at least the rest of this week. If you don’t believe me, let’s run through just a few moments of the madness together. And for all you folks who were off the TL, here’s a window into the blerd Comic-Con experience:

Luke Cage came all the way from Harlem.

The Justice League surprised us all (especially me).

Plus, the Kiersey Clemons news turned out to be true! Blerds win again. #KeepIrisBlack is a success!

Marvel made history in a very necessary way.

Suicide Squad ramped up the anticipation with a final trailer.

And Superman came (in disguise) to show them love.

Fam, Sonic the Hedgehog fell through.

Even more importantly, blerds (+allies) took the time to send a message.

Community. Visibility. This is us. #blmsdcc2016 #blackheroesmatter

Shout out to the legend David F. Walker. And shout out to Black Girl Nerds for capturing some powerful footage, and their coverage of the ‘Con overall. Check out #BGNSDCC for more.

Mr. Robot aka #DatBot (my new obsession) was in the house.

Rami Malek is such a beast. If you haven’t checked out the show yet, I highly recommend. I binge-watched the first season in two days.

Spider-Man and crew made a strong impression.

They even got Wakanda’s best to show up.

Even if king T’Challa did get a little restless at one point.

I had a terrible case of FOMO all weekend long, just to keep it real with you. But the motivation to be at next year’s SDCC is even stronger now. So, cross your fingers for the boy. This doesn’t even show half of the amazing things that happened at the convention this year. There was so much cosplay, endless events, and panels that gave fans so much to look forward to. I stand firmly by the fact that this is the best time on earth to be a nerd. And it’s a better time to be a black nerd than ever before. But that’s how it should be. Representation for us continues to get better — and it should — because we deserve to see ourselves everywhere in the nerd space. And, call me crazy, but I have a really strong feeling that it’s coming.
