After two days of searching and appeals to the public, the suspect in a tragic road rage murder has been caught by police. Joshua Gonzalez, a 20-year-old Phoenix resident, was arrested Friday and charged with first-degree murder for the death of Summerbell Brown, a 10-year-old who died in her parents' arms.

Phoenix police say last Wednesday around 5:45 p.m., Gonzalez became enraged while driving on the highway next to Summerbell's father, Dharquintium Brown. Summerbell was in the car on her way home with her sister and parents.

It is still unclear what happened, but both cars had scuff marks, and Brown said Gonzalez cut him off before tailing the family to their home. When Brown pulled into his driveway, Gonzalez pulled his white truck in behind them and began shooting. Both Brown and Summerbell, who was sitting behind her dad, were shot.

"She was daddy's little girl. She would wake me up every day with a kiss on my cheek,"  Brown told reporters, adding that he "watched her eyes roll in the back of her head. And I pray nobody has to experience that."

A vigil was held for the young girl last week.

Police added another three counts of aggravated assault to the murder charge and found the weapon in his vehicle when he was apprehended. During a press conference on Friday, Phoenix police Sgt. Vince Lewis said Gonzalez had an "extensive" criminal history. A composite sketch of Gonzalez was released on Thursday, and a tip came in Monday alerting police to his whereabouts. He tried to change the car's appearance to cover up scuff marks that resembled those on Brown's car.

"There was no reason for her to be taken like this. I wish it was me instead of my baby. This nightmare's going to be playing in my head every day… I just really hope she's at peace," said Summerbell's mother, Taniesha.

"This is heartbreaking…that I lost my baby like this."
