Despite being the top nominated female artist at this year's Grammy Awards, SZA went home empty-handed. It was a shock to fans as her album CTRL showcased some of SZA's amazing songwriting abilities as well as provided some of 2017's hottest bops. In a new interview with GQ, SZA addresses her feelings toward the situation as well as let us know what's in store for the art many of us have come to love.

The praise for SZA was seemingly unanimous. Sis has a way with the pen, and her songs seemed to be the soundtrack of the summer. After she was nominated for five Grammys including "Best New Artist," she tells GQ that losing made her frustrated and "mad as hell."

“You feel like you’re really falling short and you fucking failed [your fans],” she says.“This is something much bigger than me and a fucking trophy.”

Many fans were mad on SZA's behalf. As a result, SZA says she "felt a shift."

"Like, I came a really long-ass way. I didn’t imagine this album doing much anyway. I was so grateful to even have been honored by being nominated and having so many people fuck with my music. I feel like at some point you start to get sucked up into the accolades and you’re like, Oh, this is what this is about, and this is what quantifies my success or me as an artist or a human being," she describes.

However, it's never been about the Grammy for SZA, and that's not why she makes music.

"We’re changing little girls’ lives across the world, and we didn’t even know what we were doing when we started," she said. "This is something much bigger than me and a fucking trophy. I’m appreciative of the opportunity. But shit happens."

Of Alessia Cara, who walked away with the "Best New Artist" award that many felt she didn't deserve, SZA says she really, really f*cks with her. There's no beef, and she believes the award was well-deserved.

"I think it’s gorgeous. It has so much dimension, and she deserves every accolade that she gets," SZA says of Cara's voice.

As for what's next,  the Top Dawg Entertainment artist says this:

"I didn't make my album with the Grammys in mind, and I'm definitely not gonna make my second one with the Grammys in mind," she said. "I'm just gonna make really good fucking music and just try to touch people."

SZA will be joining the Championship Tour for a two-month run along with Kendrick Lamar, Schoolboy Q, Jay Rock, and more.
