Twitter was active this week and perked up especially on Friday with the release of Kanye West's gospel album Jesus Is King.

Black Twitter took particular joy in crushing the long-awaited album and stepped things up further by turning Kirk Franklin into a trending topic. Franklin is wildly popular and has been making his rounds in recent months promoting his new album, Long Live Love, which has topped the gospel charts since June.

His latest hit “Love Theory” is one of the most-streamed gospel songs on Spotify, and “OK,” is now at the top of the Gospel Digital Song Sales chart.

Many believe he ushered in a new wave of gospel music with decades of hits that still ring off no matter where they play.

When the 40-year-old busted into the music scene, he entered a territory with unprecedented beats and lyrics. He inspired generations of Christians with hits that made you worship down with your best moves, respectfully.

Now, the gospel singer spends his time spreading the importance of spirituality while recently condemning the spread of hate toward the LGBTQ community.
