According to a report from Variety, Sony is looking at remaking many of the classic 70s television series from prolific showrunner, Norman Lear, including All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times and Maude.

The report says, new actors would recreate classic episodes of the shows, taken form the original scripts. The series would then be packaged as six-episode anthologies.

If you remember correctly, in 2013, Sony Entertainment was talking about the idea of remaking Good Times into a movie. That plan got axed and then members of the cast created a kickstarter with the goal of raising a $1 million to create movie starring themselves. However now it seems that Sony has gotten all its ducks in a row for a full-fledged reboot as a miniseries.

In a world where remakes and remasterings are the new trend, Sony has jumped at the opportunity. Sony has been in talks with the Lear to himself plan the projects. "There is some talk about doing some of the original shows, redoing them with today’s stars," said Lear. This comes at a time where a reboot of Lear's show One Day at a Time has been rebooted as a new series for Netflix, set with a Latino family. It will premiere January 6. No networks, actors or any other information is yet known for the other projects.
